Overworked salaryman Sasaki has one thing he can count on: cute and diligent Yamada, the cashier at his local grocery store. But one evening, after a particularly stressful day at work, he doesn't see Yamada; instead, he bumps into the cool and teasing Tamaya in the smoking section behind the supermarket--and doesn't seem to realize the similarities in appearance. This cute romantic comedy about adult connection, perception, and working culture is a somewhat silly concept that manages to work due to excellent characterization and art. Jinushi effortlessly captures little moments in time in this slow-burn, slice-of-life romance. The fluid, dynamic artwork does an excellent job of making the dual nature of Yamada/Tamaya work on the page.This must-buy for adult manga collections offers something fresh in the rotation.
