After two failed marriages, Leanne Vanderpol is here for a good time, not for a long time. She only loves the witches in her coven, and she cares more about her career than happily ever after. A difficult past makes her skittish, and she doesn't trust relationships to stick. But when she decides to run for city council instead of wasting her talents cleaning up messes for the mayor's office, she fears her past could be used against her—unless she can find the right husband to shore up her political career... Trevor Montgomery might have peaked in high school. He was popular then, and in college as well, but he partied away his future, met the wrong person, and everything fell apart. Now he's jobless, dateless, and hopeless—at least, according to his toxic family. Then a chance meeting with the redhead of his dreams offers an unexpected ray of light just when he needs it most. Can a woman who doesn't believe in forever find true love with a man who's stopped believing in anything at all?

Aguirre’s third Fix-it Witches paranormal rom-com (after Boss Witch) delightfully defies gender stereotypes while delivering both heat and heart. Career-driven, politically minded witch Leanne Vanderpol is tired of the old boys’ club she’s up against in her job in the mayor’s office, spurring her to run for office herself. But, 37 and twice divorced, she realizes that, to win, her image may need a tiny bit of tweaking in the form of a nice, stable man in her life. Enter Trevor Montgomery. At 33, Trev’s life consists largely of weed and video games in his parents’ basement, and he struggles with low self-esteem, depression, and his bad relationships with his toxic family. His world is turned upside down when Leanne zeros in on him to play her fake husband, in exchange offering to get him out of the basement. The resulting madcap romance gives a blatant middle finger to toxic masculinity as driven Leanne and nurturing Trev work together to trump the patriarchy. While lighter on the supernatural elements than most in its subgenre (the magic is mostly set-dressing), this celebration of healthy relationships offers characters readers will fall in love with and an off-the-charts heat level. The result is an absolute joy. Agent: Lucienne Diver, Knight Agency.

Narrator Ava Lucas returns to this third Fix-It Witches romance. Now that the witch-hunting crisis is over, the coven can return to their normal lives in which they are hidden in plain sight in their midwestern town. For Leanne, that should mean casual romantic flings and being overworked in the mayor's office. However, after meeting Trevor, she begins to see potential in the depressed dropout and in her own city council ambitions. Lucas reserves her most sultry voice for Leanne and is not afraid to add realistic embellishments to love scenes. The sleazy voice she used for Trevor in past audiobooks in the series has been updated to be far more likable. Lucas's portrayals will keep listeners rooting for this couple to prevail.
