Gr 3-4-Christopher continues to build stories based on good values and on conflicts between right and wrong. In this easy-to-read series entry, Bus Mercer wants to be picked for his county's All-Star team. He breaks his parents' rules, however, by riding his bicycle to the batting cage without telling them where he's going and also by traveling on the main road rather than on the bike path. Guilt about these poor decisions distracts him during an important game, but the book comes to a satisfying conclusion that readers will find realistic. Full-page, black-and-white cartoons are scattered throughout.-Blair Christolon, Prince William Library, Manassas, VA
